Quick answer
- Saturn is in Aries from February 13, 2026 to April 12, 2028 (after a preview run from May 24 to September 1, 2025).
- Born April 7, 1996 – June 9, 1998 or October 25, 1998 – March 1, 1999? Your natal Saturn is in Aries and this is your first Saturn return.
- Born March 3, 1967 – April 29, 1969? This is your second Saturn return.
- Your personal "exact" date depends on Saturn's degree at your birth. Use the calculator or find your birth month in the table.
- Right now (late September 2026) Saturn is retrograde near 12° Aries: anyone born March–April 1997 or November 1997–January 1998 is in the middle of their second pass.
Every 29.5 years Saturn comes back to the exact spot it occupied when you were born. For close to ten million Americans born in the late 1990s, and their peers everywhere, that homecoming began on February 13, 2026, when Saturn crossed into Aries for the first time since 1999.
This guide is built differently from the recycled "Saturn return 101" pieces. It gives you the actual ephemeris dates, a calculator that finds your return to the day, a birth-month table you can read in ten seconds, and a house-by-house playbook for the specific flavour of a Saturn return in Aries: the sign where Saturn is traditionally at its weakest, which is exactly why the lessons are the least subtle.

Saturn in Aries: the exact 2025–2028 timeline
Saturn's move into Aries was not a single event. It crossed the line, backed out, and crossed again, which is why you will see both "2025" and "2026" quoted as the start. The table below is the full sequence, computed from the JPL planetary elements and cross-checked against published station degrees. Dates are UTC; in the Americas some fall on the previous evening.

What a Saturn return actually is (the 60-second version)
Saturn orbits the Sun once every 29.46 years. A Saturn return is the moment transiting Saturn arrives back at the zodiac degree it occupied at your birth. Astrologically, Saturn is the planet of time, structure, limits and earned authority, so its return is read as a life audit: the point where the provisional arrangements of one life stage either become permanent or get dismantled.
Three distinctions matter more than most articles admit:
- The window vs. the hit. The window is Saturn's whole stay in your natal sign, roughly two to two and a half years. The hit is Saturn on your exact degree, a stretch of a few weeks when the pressure peaks.
- One pass or three. Saturn is retrograde about four and a half months a year. If your degree falls inside a retrograde loop, Saturn crosses it three times: forward, backward, forward again. Outside the loop you get one clean pass. The calculator tells you which.
- Three returns in a lifetime. First around 29 (window ≈ 27½–30), second around 58–59, third around 88. Each has a different job: build, consolidate, distil.
Who is having a Saturn return in Aries right now
| Born | Natal Saturn | Which return | Peak of the window |
|---|---|---|---|
| April 7, 1996 – June 9, 1998 | Aries (0°–30°) | First | Feb 2026 – Apr 2028 (exact hits by degree, see table below) |
| June 10 – October 24, 1998 | Early Taurus (0°–3°) | First, but not yet | From April 2028 (Saturn dipped into Taurus that summer) |
| October 25, 1998 – March 1, 1999 | Late Aries (25°–30°) | First | July 2027 – April 2028 |
| March 3, 1967 – April 29, 1969 | Aries | Second | Feb 2026 – Apr 2028 |
| April 25, 1937 – March 20, 1940 (except Oct 17, 1937 – Jan 14, 1938 and Jul 7 – Sep 21, 1939) | Aries | Third | Feb 2026 – Apr 2028 |
Why a Saturn return in Aries hits differently
1. Saturn is in its "fall" in Aries
In traditional dignity, Saturn is exalted in Libra (the sign of negotiated agreements) and in its fall in Aries (the sign of unilateral action). That is not a curse; it is a description of friction. Saturn wants to wait, plan and defer; Aries wants to move now and apologise later. A Saturn return in Aries therefore tests one thing above all: can you act decisively without being reckless, and stand alone without becoming hyper-independent?
2. The lessons are physical and personal, not abstract
Aries rules the head, the musculature, the immune "first response" and, symbolically, the self. Where the Pisces return (the 1993–1996 cohort, 2023–2026) was about boundaries, disillusionment and letting go, the Aries return is about authorship: your name on the decision, your body carrying the consequences. Expect the bill to arrive as a burnout, an injury, a confrontation, or a sudden clarity about what you will no longer tolerate.
3. Neptune is in the room
Neptune moved into Aries for good on January 26, 2026, and met Saturn at 0°42′ Aries on February 19–20, 2026. Saturn–Neptune conjunctions happen only every 36 years. For people born in April 1996 or November–December 1996 (natal Saturn 0°–1° Aries), the exact return was fused with that conjunction. If that is you, the start of "real adulthood" felt foggy or idealistic rather than stern. Decisions made in that haze deserve a second look during the December 2026 station.
4. Two retrograde loops split the cohort into "one-pass" and "three-pass" groups
- 2026 loop (7°56′–14°45′): born roughly March–April 1997 and November 1997–January 1998. Three passes between May 2026 and March 2027.
- 2027 loop (21°05′–27°57′): born roughly April–May 1998 and December 1998–January 1999. Three passes between May 2027 and March 2028.
- Everyone else in the cohort: a single pass, cleaner but shorter, with less time to redo the exam.

The 2026–2028 roadmap, quarter by quarter
- Feb – Apr 2026 · Ingress and fog. Saturn enters Aries (Feb 13) and merges with Neptune (Feb 19–20). Exact returns for births from April 1996 to February 1997. Theme: the ideal meets the invoice. Commitments made here are sincere but under-specified.
- Late Apr – Jul 2026 · First passes for the middle degrees. Saturn climbs from 8° to 14°45′. Births from March 1997 to January 1998 get their first hit. July 26: Saturn stations retrograde and the whole cohort feels the brakes.
- Aug – Dec 2026 · The review loop. Retrograde from 14°45′ back to 7°56′. Second passes for the same group. This is a period for renegotiating, not launching: the job you took in spring, the lease, the relationship terms. December 10: Saturn stations direct.
- Jan – Jul 2027 · Third passes, then new territory. Saturn re-covers 8°–14° (final hits for the March 1997 and Nov 1997–Jan 1998 groups by mid-March) and then moves through 15°–27°, delivering single, clean returns to births from May 1997 to March 1998 and first passes to April–May 1998 and December 1998–January 1999.
- Aug – Dec 2027 · Second review loop. Retrograde from 27°57′ to 21°05′. Second passes for the late-Aries group. Saturn stations direct December 23–24.
- Jan – Apr 2028 · Graduation. Final passes for late-degree Saturns (through April 1). April 12: Saturn enters Taurus. What you built in these 26 months is now the floor you stand on for the next 29 years.
12 signs you are in your Saturn return in Aries
Not a diagnosis, a pattern-check. If you tick seven or more, the transit has your attention.
- You feel an urgent need to be taken seriously, and a matching irritation at anyone who still treats you like the junior.
- You have started, quit or completely re-scoped a major project in the last twelve months.
- A conflict with a boss, parent, landlord, coach or institution has escalated to a decision point.
- Your body is invoicing you: headaches, jaw tension, an old sports injury, blood pressure, sleep debt.
- Anger arrives faster than it used to, and so does shame about the anger.
- You have gone freelance, solo, or are seriously considering it, and you are frightened by how much you want it.
- "I don't need anyone" has become a reflex you are beginning to distrust.
- Friends from your early twenties are falling away and you are not replacing them quickly.
- A first mortgage, first business registration, first leadership title, or first real contract is on the table.
- You have become allergic to vagueness: you want dates, numbers and named responsibilities.
- You keep revisiting a decision made in early 2026 that seemed obvious at the time.
- You are more disciplined in one domain (training, money, craft) than you have ever been, and more chaotic in another.
Your rising sign → the house Saturn is auditing
Everyone gets the Saturn-in-Aries transit somewhere; the cohort gets it as a return. Both are located by rising sign (ascendant), using whole-sign houses. If you do not know your rising sign you need your birth time and any free birth-chart calculator.
| Rising sign | House | The exam | The reward if you pass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | 1st · self, body, presence | Define yourself without asking permission; take responsibility for how you land on people | Personal authority; a body you trust |
| Taurus | 12th · endings, psyche, solitude | Face what you have been managing instead of resolving: burnout, grief, avoidance, addiction | Peace that does not depend on circumstances |
| Gemini | 11th · friends, networks, future | Prune the circle; commit to a long-range goal instead of many options | A real community and a five-year plan |
| Cancer | 10th · career, reputation | Step into visible responsibility; accept that authority costs comfort | A title, practice or business that is actually yours |
| Leo | 9th · beliefs, education, travel | Choose a philosophy, degree, faith or jurisdiction and go deep instead of wide | Mastery; the right to teach |
| Virgo | 8th · shared money, debt, intimacy | Untangle joint finances, debt, inheritance, sexual and emotional dependencies | Solvency and depth |
| Libra | 7th · partnership, contracts | Commit fully or leave cleanly; stop outsourcing decisions to the partner | A partnership between two adults |
| Scorpio | 6th · work, health, routine | The body and the calendar send the bill; build systems you can sustain | Habits that hold under pressure |
| Sagittarius | 5th · creativity, children, romance | Take your art, your play or your desire to parent seriously enough to structure it | A body of work, or a family, built on purpose |
| Capricorn | 4th · home, family, roots | Leave home properly, or build one; renegotiate the deal with your parents | A foundation you chose |
| Aquarius | 3rd · communication, siblings, learning | Say the hard thing, in writing, on the record; finish the course | Authority in your voice |
| Pisces | 2nd · income, values, self-worth | Earn on your own terms; stop pricing yourself by other people's comfort | A financial floor and a spine |
Five rules for passing the Aries exam
1. Start one thing. Finish it before you start the next.
Aries wants to begin; Saturn grades completion. The classic failure mode of this return is a graveyard of brilliant starts. Pick the single project whose completion would change your position most, and let it be the one Saturn signs off on.
2. Pick your fights with authority on purpose.
You will feel like fighting every institution at once. Choose the confrontation that, if won, upgrades your standing, and concede the rest strategically. Saturn rewards the person who can hold a position calmly for eighteen months more than the person who wins a shouting match in a week.
3. Treat your body as the first institution you run.
Aries governs the head and the muscles; Saturn governs bones, teeth, skin and structure. Strength training, sleep, dental work and actually seeing a doctor are not lifestyle choices during this return; they are the curriculum. Disproportionate returns accrue to anyone who becomes physically disciplined now.
4. Audit your hyper-independence.
Being able to stand alone is the goal. Refusing help, refusing to delegate and refusing to be seen needing anything is the shadow. The test is whether you can ask for what you need from a position of strength, as a peer, not as the kid you used to be.
5. Use the retrograde windows for review, not launches.
July 26 – December 10, 2026 and August 9 – December 23, 2027 are for renegotiating, repairing and finishing. Sign the long-term things in the direct phases if you can, and if you cannot, build explicit review clauses into whatever you sign.
The second Saturn return in Aries (born March 1967 – April 1969)
If you are 57 to 59, this is not your first rodeo, and that is the point. The first Aries return (1996–1999) asked who you were going to be; the second asks what, of everything you built, is worth carrying into the last third of life. Themes that recur for this cohort in 2026–2028:
- Physical accountability. The Aries body themes (head, inflammation, blood pressure, musculoskeletal wear) become non-negotiable. This is the return where people start or stop for good.
- Authority handover. Whether you are the founder, the senior clinician or the matriarch, Saturn asks you to formalise succession, or to admit you do not want to.
- Reclaimed initiative. Many in this cohort start the "one thing" they postponed in 1997: the practice, the book, the move. Saturn in Aries at 58 is remarkably good at late first acts.
Exact dates follow the same degree logic as the younger cohort: a natal Saturn at 5° Aries (born about April 1967) returned on roughly March 30, 2026; 16°–17° (April 1968) returns around March 31, 2027; 22°–24° (October 1968 – March 1969) gets three passes between May 2027 and February 2028. The calculator handles all of it.

Frequently asked questions
When is Saturn in Aries?
Saturn previewed Aries from May 24 to September 1, 2025, then re-entered on February 13, 2026 and stays until April 12, 2028, when it moves into Taurus. It will not be back in Aries until the mid-2050s.
How do I know if my Saturn is in Aries?
Born April 7, 1996 – June 9, 1998, or October 25, 1998 – March 1, 1999: yes. Born March 3, 1967 – April 29, 1969: yes. Born April 1937 – March 1940 (with two short exceptions): yes. Use the calculator above for the exact degree, which decides your dates.
How long does a Saturn return last?
The wide window (Saturn in your natal sign) is about two to two and a half years. The exact return, Saturn on your natal degree, is a few weeks, and because of retrograde motion it can happen once or three times inside the window.
At what age is the first Saturn return?
Around 29, with the window opening at about 27½ and closing at about 30. The second is around 58–59 and the third around 88.
Why does a Saturn return sometimes happen three times?
Saturn is retrograde about 4½ months every year. If your natal degree lies inside a retrograde loop, transiting Saturn crosses it forward, backward and forward again. In 2026 the loop covers 7°56′–14°45′ Aries; in 2027 it covers 21°05′–27°57′.
Is the Saturn return in Aries harder than in other signs?
It is more direct. Saturn is in its fall in Aries, so the planet's slow, cautious style clashes with the sign's speed. The lessons land on identity, temper, the body and the capacity to act alone without isolating yourself, all of which are hard to ignore.
I was born in summer 1998. Is this my Saturn return?
Between June 10 and October 24, 1998 Saturn was in early Taurus (0°–3°). If that is your birthday, your Saturn is in Taurus and your return begins after April 12, 2028. You are experiencing the collective Saturn-in-Aries transit in whichever house Aries occupies in your chart.
Does a retrograde Saturn in my birth chart change the return?
Not the timing. The return is measured by degree. Interpretively, natal Saturn retrograde is often read as authority issues that were internalised early, so the return tends to be about granting yourself permission rather than fighting external rules.
What is the difference between my Saturn return and the Saturn in Aries transit everyone else has?
Everyone gets Saturn in the Aries house of their chart for two years. The cohort also gets Saturn conjunct their own natal Saturn, which closes a 29.5-year cycle. Same transit, extra layer, whole-life stakes.
How accurate is this calculator?
It reproduces published station degrees to within a few arcminutes (for example 14°49′ vs the published 14°45′ for July 26, 2026) and dates to within about a day. Near a station, where Saturn barely moves, allow a few days. Birth time and timezone only matter if you were born within hours of a sign change.

Dates are UTC; if your birth is on a boundary date, use the calculator with your birth time and timezone.
Method, accuracy and sources
- Planetary positions are computed from the JPL approximate Keplerian elements (E. M. Standish, Keplerian Elements for Approximate Positions of the Major Planets, valid 1800–2050), converted from the J2000 ecliptic to the ecliptic of date using IAU 2006 general precession. The same routine runs the on-page calculator.
- Validation: the routine returns 14°49′ Aries for Saturn's July 26, 2026 station (published: 14°45′), 8°00′ for December 10, 2026 (published: 7°56′), and 0°42′ Aries for the February 2026 Saturn–Neptune conjunction (published: 0°45′). Ingress dates match published ephemerides to within a day.
- Tropical zodiac, geocentric longitudes, whole-sign houses for the rising-sign section. Times are UTC unless stated.
- Dignities follow the traditional scheme (Saturn exalted in Libra, in fall in Aries) as given in Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos and later Hellenistic and medieval sources.
